Tamachi Station 田町駅

Gate to Tokyo Bay

The station is located in Minato Ward, in southeastern Tokyo in the Tamachi district. On the Yamanote line, it provides easy access to the renowned Rainbow Bridge and Sengaku-ji temple.

Inaugurated on December 16, 1909, as the 16th station of the Yamanote Line, the station remains relatively anonymous. It is only served by two lines, managed by JR East:

  • The Yamanote line that loops through Tokyo,
  • The Keihin-Tôhoku line which connects the cities of Saitama, Kawaguchi, Tokyo, Kawasaki and Yokohama .

It is located on the Yamanote line, between Hamamatsucho station and Shinagawa stationMita station is very close, only 5 min walk. It is served by the Asakusa line (connecting Nishi-Magome station to Oshiage station) and the Mita line (connecting Meguro station to Nishi-Takashimadaira station).

The Tamachi district is mainly residential and student. You will thus find there the University of Keio and the Tokyo Institute of Technology. To the east of the resort, the artificial islands and their canals offer a very pleasant setting for strolling away from the crowds.
