In the man-made islands of Tokyo Bay

The Tokyo Olympics will feature 33 different sports. Among these, some of the water sports competitions are organized in Tokyo Bay, in Odaiba: swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, swimming marathon, canoeing (sprint and slalom), rowing, and triathlon events.

Marathon and triathlon swimming events

The marathon swimming competitions and the triathlon event will be at Odaiba Marine Park.

Marathon swimming takes place in open water. It requires athletes to master speed but also to know how to counter the vagaries of the weather and currents. The tests will be organized on August 5 and 6.

Triathlon is an outdoor sport in which athletes participate in three events: swimming (1.5 km), cycling (40 km), and cross-country running (10 km). The triathlon events will be organized on July 27 and 28 and on August 1.

There's also the Tokyo Joypolis indoor amusement park, with roller coasters, arcade games, and virtual reality experiences, located within the Aqua City shopping mall. A little further on is the atypical Venus Fort with, right next to it, a 115-meter-high Ferris wheel, called Daikanransha, which lights up in the colors of the rainbow.

For some years now, a giant Gundam statue has been installed in Odaiba. Of "real size", this 18-meter-high statue seems straight out of the manga.

All you have to do is jump into the water and go support your favorite athletes at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020!
