The third-largest auto market after the United States and China, Japan hosts a group of manufacturers with a pioneering role in the world of innovation. Every two years, in late November or early December, the Tokyo Motor Show and one hundred and eighty exhibitors from a dozen different countries attract a large audience. The show is a heavyweight amongst a group of major auto shows globally and showcases its latest cutting-edge, eco-friendly vehicles of the future! Many activities and outreach initiatives are organized during the ten days open to the public.

Toyota, a pioneer in this field with the Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, introduced its first environmentally responsible models here. The 2011 show, just a few months after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, unveiled the latest electric cars from Nissan, BMW, Toyota, with the slogan, "Reborn".
