The Japanese people have made this season into an celebration of contemplating the passing of time: momijigari, the hunt for koyo, the reddening leaves. One of the finest seasons for travelling in Japan and admiring its beauty, bathed in a reddish-orange light!

Journey from Tokyo to Kawaguchiko by bus.

From the Chureito pagoda, you will be able to look out on the magnificent sight of the sun setting over Japan’s highest mountain.

Located at the foot of Mount Fuji, Lake Kawaguchi is an ideal place to recharge your batteries surrounded by nature and to admire the delightful red autumnal leaves at sunrise and sunset.

Journey from Kawaguchiko to Kyoto by train.

Set off for the Kiyomizu-dera complex, whose main pavilion is surrounded by maples, to end the day with a fine display of colors.

At Arashiyama, the hills offer up a magnificent spectacle during the koyo season, and you will be able to watch a sunrise which brims over with poetry.

In a bucolic setting, you will set off and lose yourselves among the trees until you reach the 5-floor pagoda of the thousand-year old temple of Daigoji.
The red adornments of the maples at the Tofukuji temples are like red flames which set alight the grounds surrounding this great monument of Zen Buddhism.

KYOTO

In the mountains, you will be welcomed by the flamboyant red of the 10,000 torii (traditional gates) of Fushimi Inari Taisha.
During your stay in Kyoto, do not miss the Golden Pavilion or Kinkakuji. This temple, as its name suggests, is covered in gold leaf and you will be dazzled by its aesthetics.

Among the other temples you can see during the fall in Kyoto: Konkai Komyoji and Bishamondo.

OSAKA

Journey from Kyoto to Osaka by train.
Check-in at hotel.

Explore the two symbolic sites of the great city in the west of Japan.
The magnificent Osaka Castle for its historical and effervescent aspect and Dotonbori, to discover a new side to the country.

HIMEJI

From the train, you will see the famous Himeji castle standing proudly in its grounds. This is an essential site and the main attraction of this city with its population of 500,000 residents.

TOKYO

Having admired the sunrise over the town with the white castle, you will head back to the capital.
Journey from Himeji to Tokyo by train.

Why not enjoy a 360° panorama over the immensity of Tokyo, 146 meters (479 feet) up at the top of the Bunkyo Civic Center to watch the sunset?

To avoid feeling stifled in the capital, head to Ginkgo Avenue where yellow-leaved trees extend over 300 meters (328 yards).

The best sports for contemplating the marvels of fall are the emblematic Shinjuku Gyoen park and the very ancient garden of Rikugien.
