KYOTO

Possible excursions from Kyoto:

• The city of Kobe, between ocean and mountain. Visit the port then catch the cable car and admire the view over the inland sea. The journey to Kobe is covered by the Japan Rail Pass (45 minutes).
Nara, the first permanent capital of Japan. Visit its emblematic sites which are classified as Unesco World Heritage sites, such as the Todaiji temple or the Kasuga Taisha shrine, and buy some shika-sembei, food for the fallow deer which roam freely within the city. Train journey covered by the Japan Rail Pass (30 to 45 minutes).
Fushimi-Inari Taisha, an essential visit in the south of Kyoto. Go through the hundreds of red torii which can be found at this exceptional shrine. Train journey covered by the Japan Rail Pass (approx. 5 minutes).

KYOTO - HIROSHIMA

Transfer to Kyoto Station (not included). Direct train journey to Hiroshima included in the Japan Rail Pass (approx. 2hrs). Reception and installation in Dormy Inn hotel.

Visit of Hiroshima and surrounding area.

Do not miss:
• The Peace Memorial Park and its museum. You can place your folded paper crane among those made by schoolchildren visiting Hiroshima to pay tribute to the victims of the atomic bomb.
• The Sukkei-en garden, an unspoilt site which will reveal its surprises to you as you go along its pathways.
• The Ikari shrine, built long ago by sailors in honour of the god of the seas.

Excursion from Hirohima: Miyajima Island with its shrine
• The Itsukushima-jinja shrine and its great gate (ootorii) which rises from the sea.
• The Daishô-in temple
• The magnificent park of Momijidani – the Valley of maples

HIROSHIMA - OSAKA

- The districts of Dôtonbori, Shinsaibashi and Namba
- Den-Den Machi, Osaka's electronic district (where you can find goodies at low prices)
- Osaka Castle

Things to do in Osaka:
- A cruise along the canal
- A snack at takoyaki and okonomiyaki
- Sprinkle water on the moss-covered statue of Fudô myô in the small Hozen-ji temple
