Neighborhoods Kaminobori

The Kaminobori district is ideally placed between Hiroshima Station and the city’s castle. The centrepiece of the district is the magnificent Shukkei-en garden which dates from 1620. Although it was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945, it was entirely reconstructed and it symbolises hope and rebirth in addition to being one of Japan’s finest gardens.

A change of trams is required (line 9 then line 2) to reach the Peace Memorial Park.

Tram line n° 9 crosses the district with a station just outside the Shukkei-en garden (Shukkei-en mae).
From Hiroshima Station, leave via the south exit, turn right and cross the river using the Sakae-bashi bridge (10 minutes on foot)
