house Kaga
Gem of a machiya
Description
The house was traditionally transformed into a modern day machiya and has a wonderful mix of east and west. The first floor has a garden, living room, kitchen and bath area. The living room has nice tatami floors and looks out from the large windows onto the Japanese garden. On the second floor you have bedrooms that will truly help you experience a real Japan. The bedrooms are blue and red, a famous pair of colors in Kanazawa distinguishing samurais from non samurais. With western beds in one room and comfortable futons in the other, not only is the house easy to relax in, but the location is great too.
The Nagamachi samurai district, downtown Katamachi, Saigawa river, and the ninja temple are all less than a ten minute walk. Kanazawa is a relatively small city, but has a lot of nice places to see and restaurants to explore. Kaga house makes all of those very easy do. We hope to have you!

The rooms are very clean and the location is very good. You can find a taxi from Kanazawa Station at a little bit higher price. You can also walk or take a bus. The appearance of the house is quaint. The small courtyard and the Japanese room structure complement each other. Living inside and experiencing the beauty of traditional Japanese style...I had meals with my friends here, had a good time, and the rooms upstairs were nice. It’s was a really good experience!
Thank you Chris! We had a very comfortable time. We really enjoyed the trip!
It was a very beautiful house and easy to use. It's a little far from the station, about 30 minutes by walk, but you can get there cheaply (about 800 yen by taxi) by using a bus or taxi. Easy access to tourist spots. There is a river behind the house and you can see the sunset! We had a very memorable and wonderful time at this very beautiful house! Thank you very much.
Great location and the hosts are very attentive. Highly recommend
The homestay is in a good location, very close to the busiest commercial street. Going out across the road is an ancient street full of charm, as well as various small shops. After walking down the river, the scenery is beautiful. The "manager" sent by the landlord turned out to be French. Communication in simple English and Japanese was also very easy. Sleeping upstairs in the house and sleeping downstairs, it feels pretty good, but it still feels cold in winter.
