house Anrakuji

Close to the Philosopher's Path

Anrakuji is a house recently restored by us and is perfect for a couple wishing to eat and sleep, Japanese style.

You can prepare your meals in the kitchenette and eat them comfortably seated on the zabutons, Japanese cushions, in the lounge covered with tatamis.

The warm Japanese bedroom, facing full south, is bathed in a soft light filtered by translucent white paper panels.

Diligent travellers will be able to set themselves up in the small office, but be warned: the pleasant view over the small street which is in front of the house and the nearby roofing will be sure to distract you.

Ground floor: Well equipped kitchen, living/dining room with Kotatsu, a toilet and shower. No Furo (Japanese bath) is compensated by a nice and well known Sento- public bath.

1st floor: Japanese room with 6 tatamis (for 2 personnes) and mini western room with a sofa bed and writing desk. Two steps away from the Philosopher's Path

Anrakuji house is located in a quiet street which ends at the Philosopher's Path.
Nearby there is a small fresh produce market, Fresco, very convenient for those who want to dine at home as well as a delicious bakery, Yamada Bakery.
The bus lines are two steps away, enabling you to easily access the city's other tourist areas.

Our opinion

This vacation rental  in Kyoto is a small cosy nest on the Philosopher's Path. Anrakuji house gently welcomes you to its typically Japanese interior. An aroma of tatami mats and subdued lighting will make you calm and relaxed to enjoy a pleasant stay.
