house LaKeyaki Zen

A tea pavilion in the heart of Tokyo

This vacation rental in Tokyo has a large traditional Japanese room designed for tea ceremonies, lined with walkways on either side overlooking the large garden. In the bathroom a wooden bathtub made from Japanese cypress trees pleasantly perfumes the room.

To be shared with the two other bedrooms upstairs where other guests are staying, there is also a large fully-equipped kitchen that opens onto the dining room, a spacious living room and a beautiful veranda offering a view on the vegetable garden.

Japanese style room of 40 m2, where you can enjoy the double panorama (on the LaKeyaki garden, and on Shinjuku Gyoen Park).

The Lakeyaki house is a place where people from across the world meet. It is an open house where locals and travelers, foreigners and Japanese, can meet, and it also hosts cultural events, seminars and workshops which travelers are welcome to attend. By renting the ZEN Room in LaKeyaki House, you will have the opportunity to make new friends or discover new music, etc.
LaKeyaki is a haven of peace with its 1 200 square yards of garden, right next to Shinjuku, one of the capital's liveliest districts. The house belongs to a family of music lovers, Pierre Barouh, composer-songwriter, Atsuko Ushioda, his wife, and their children, who live between France and Japan to make new talents known.

During the Edo period, the area belonged to one of Shogun Tokugawa’s most powerful lord. This protected area is also home to century-old trees including that of LaKeyaki, which miraculously withstood the earthquakes and wars of the past century.

We stayed in this house 3 years ago. We liked it so much we didn't even think twice about where we would stay in Tokyo this time!
