Tokyo Story (1953)
One of the most famous films by Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu, Tokyo Story tells the story of a couple of pensioners living in the provinces, who go to Tokyo to see their children. Between the gentle tranquility of the mother and the emotional aridity of the children, too busy with their jobs to care for their parents and wanting them to leave. Wanting to show the disintegration of the family system in Japan, this film made Ozu famous abroad, thanks to the original filming technics, with the camera set at the height of tatami mats. Observing Japanese manners has never been so much fun!
