What Is the PASMO Card?
The PASMO card is a contactless transportation card (IC card) mainly used in the Tokyo area. Working as a rechargeable prepaid card, it allows travelers to easily use trains, subways, and buses operated by most transportation companies in Tokyo and throughout Japan without having to purchase a separate ticket for each journey.
Beyond transportation, the PASMO card can also be used as a payment method, particularly at vending machines, convenience stores (konbini), and coin lockers. It is an essential tool for any trip to Japan!

The New Tourist PASMO Card!
The new Tourist PASMO card is a PASMO card specially designed for international visitors, similar to the Welcome SUICA card. It is valid for 28 days and can also be used by children, provided they are at least 12 years old.
It can be purchased from ticket machines or information counters at Tokyo airports. The price varies depending on the preloaded amount, ranging from ¥1,000 to ¥10,000.
At Narita Airport:
- Keisei Line / Skyliner Information Center (Terminal 1)
- Keisei Line / Skyliner Information Center (Terminal 2)
At Haneda Airport:
- Keikyu Line ticket machines (Terminals 1 and 2)
- Keikyu Line ticket machines (Terminal 3)
- Keikyu Line Information Center (Terminal 3 Arrivals)

Usage Tips
You can top up your Tourist PASMO card at ticket machines in train stations or at ATMs located in convenience stores (konbini).
Please note, however, that the remaining balance on the card cannot be exchanged for cash. Be careful not to load more money than you need! If you have any remaining credit at the end of your trip, you can use it for a drink from a vending machine or a snack at a convenience store.
Once your trip is over, you can keep your Tourist PASMO card as a souvenir!
