This summer, escape the crowds by going off the beaten track ! You don't have to go to Okinawa to enjoy Japanese beaches. Shimane prefecture has many beaches along its coasts but also on isolated islands.
Sasago Beach
Deserted throughout the year, the locals take over the beach during the summer holidays. The environment is ideal for diving and swimming , but also for fishing !
Kitaura Beach
Large sandbar in an arc, you can swim, snorkel and even kayak in the green and clear water of Kitaura beach. Locals go there to collect seaweed and shellfish .

Kirara Beach
Direction the other end of the prefecture and its capital Matsue. Near Izumo , home to one of Japan's oldest Shinto shrines, Kirara Beach is calm and quiet, so you can spend lovely afternoons there with your family .

The beaches of the Oki Islands
