Osaka Itami Airport (ITM), officially known as Osaka International Airport, is the primary domestic airport serving Osaka and the wider Kansai region. Located approximately 15 kilometers north of central Osaka, the airport sits on the border of the cities of Itami, Toyonaka, and Ikeda, making it the closest airport to downtown Osaka.

To address these challenges, Kansai International Airport (KIX) opened on an artificial island in Osaka Bay in 1994, and nearly all international flights were transferred there.

Today, Itami Airport operates almost exclusively domestic services and remains one of Japan's busiest airports. It continues to play an essential role in the country's domestic aviation network, with dozens of daily flights connecting Osaka to major cities and regional destinations throughout Japan.

Its convenient location and frequent flight schedules make it a popular choice for both business travelers and tourists exploring the Kansai region.
