Tsuwano Tea House

The Tsuwano Tea House offers an authentic excursion into the Japanese countryside, just 4 minutes from the station.

Description of the house

You are staying on the second floor of this tea house run by a Franco-Japanese couple, who are the best people to reach out to for good advice on discoveries to make and restaurants to visit.

The house has two large living rooms of eight tatami each, approximately 27m2, both equipped with air conditioning units and a tokonoma, a small artistic space dedicated to contemplation.

A sotoroka, an exterior corridor closed by shoji pannels with reinforced rice paper, goes around the house in the pure traditional Japanese aesthetics. Therefore, you can go from one room to the other without necessarily having to cross the common space.

A baby set is available to travelers. It includes high chair and walker.

The small kitchenette is equiped with a fridge, a small HI and a sink, as well as kitchen utensils including dishes and pots. Tea is also available for your personal use.

Tsuwano has two bedrooms equipped with two single beds each and blackout curtains. One of the Japanese living rooms can be easily turned into a bedroom with futons using the shoji panels. A total of 6 people can stay at Tsuwano Tea House.

Finally, the bathroom area provides a sink area and a shower equipped with body products.

The ground floor is dedicated to the café. Please note that you are elligible to discounts on store products. Although access is possible via two entrances, a back entrance can be used by guests for independent access to the accommodation. You will find the washing machine there, free to use, and an outside parking space.

The neighborhood

Tsuwano is a castle town nestled in an unspoilt valley in the mountains of Shimane Prefecture. It is one of the few cities in Japan known as "Little Kyoto".

The house is located on the edge of Tonomachi shopping street, bustling with small shops during the day, full of old samurai houses, sake breweries, museums and shops, and quiet at night. Two places offer Japanese or Western breakfast within a 5-minute walk.

The small town promises beautiful visits: Tsuwano river, ruins of the castle and its incredible view, hiking between the lush hills... Many festivals also take place in the town.

The owners will be happy to welcome you warmly and guide you through the house. A stay in Adrien’s Tea House is the promise of an authentic, accessible and human experience.
