Delve into the storied tradition of Japanese blade-making in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture—globally renowned as Japan’s “City of Blades.” This immersive workshop invites you to experience centuries-old craftsmanship firsthand as you create your own Damascus knife from start to finish. Under the guidance of expert artisans, you'll shape, assemble, sharpen, and engrave a blade that is both beautiful and uniquely your own.

This experience offers more than just technical skills—it’s a journey into the cultural heart of Japan’s cutlery heritage. With small group sizes limited to five participants, each session provides focused guidance and a deeply personal atmosphere. You’ll leave not only with a high-quality tool, but with a lasting memory and a tangible connection to one of Japan’s proudest artisanal traditions.

  • Group size: Small group of 1 to 5 people
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (Closed on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays)
  • Station pick‑up: Free pickup/drop-off from Nagaragawa Railway Sekitomioka or JR Mino‑Ōta stations available—just let us know your arrival time in advance.
  • What’s Included:
    • Professional English-speaking guidance throughout the process
    • Choice of knife types: Gyuto, Santoku, kitchen knife, hunting knife, or folding knife
    • Full hands-on blade & handle assembly, polishing, sharpening
    • Personal engraving of your name or custom motif on your knife
    • Entry to the Knife Museum and browsing time
    • Optional transfer to local restaurant for a meal of sushi, tempura, eel or miso katsu (lunch not included in base experience)
  • Cancellation Policy:
    • Up to 7 days before: 0%.
    • Between 7 days before and 4 days before: 50%.
    • 3 days before: 100%.

Lunch option: Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant featuring sushi, tempura, eel, or miso katsu, arranged to your preferences. Afterward, you will be taken back to the station.
