How to use the pass

Scratch off the date on which you will use the pass.

Tram: Show the date on your pass to the conductor or driver when getting off.

Ferry: Show the pass when boarding the ferry. The Miyajima Tourist Tax is already included.

This pass is valid for one day (12:00 am - 11:59 pm). Please scratch off only one date - the date on which you will be using the pass. If the pass is improperly used, or multiple dates are scratched off, it becomes invalid. Japan Experience WILL NOT issue a new pass in this case.

It is not possible to use the pass after December 31st, 2028.

Eligibility

There are no specific nationality requirements. One pass per person is required. If you need the pass for multiple days, please purchase several passes.

Children under 6 years of age can travel for free if accompanied by an adult pass holder.

Sadly, we do not offer a child pass for 6-11 year olds. You can buy the adult pass instead.

Cancellation

Japan Experience does not accept any cancellation or refund requests after purchase.

However, an unused pass (a pass where the usage date has not been scratched off or where the usage date has been scratched off but the date is in the future) can be taken to a Hiroshima Electric Railway ticket office, where staff will exchange it for 800 yen in cash.

This pass is used for Hiroshima Electric Railway Streetcars and the Miyajima Matsudai Ferry. These are run by a different company than JR. The above transports are not included in the Japan Rail Pass, JR Kansai Hiroshima Area Pass, Kansai Wide Area Pass or JR West All Area Pass.

You can not use JR lines in Hiroshima or the JR Miyajima Ferry with the Hiroshima Tram & Ferry Pass.

Just like the JR Miyajima Ferry, the Miyajima Matsudai Ferry runs about every 15 minutes. The first ferry from Miyajima-guchi leaves at 07:15 and the last at 20:35, whereas the first ferry from Miyajima leaves at 07:00 and the last at 20:15. Ferry schedules are subject to change.

The Hiroshima Electric Railway Streetcars run from about 06:00 to 22:00 everyday in around 10 minute intervals, depending on the line and station.

You cannot use this pass on the JR trains, the city bus or any other transportation in Hiroshima. This pass is only for Hiroshima Streetcars and the Miyajima Matsudai Ferry.

Hiroshima does not have an Underground network. All public transport is run through the extensive tram network, via busses and regional trains. By using only the trams covered by this pass, you will be able to access the Shinkansen station, the city centre, some major sights and Miyajima island.

Here are some major stops of the Hiroshima Electric Railway Streetcar:

  • Hiroshima Station for transfer to  all of Japan and Hiroshima Prefecture via the Shinkansen (to Tokyo via Osaka and Kyoto or to Kyushu), JR trains and highway buses.

  • Genbaku Dome-mae Station for the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park and Peace Memorial Museum.

  • Kaitei Saibansho-mae Station for Hiroshima Castle.

  • Miyajimaguchi for transfer to the Miyajima Matsudai Ferry (included in this pass) for Miyajima Island and Itsukushima Shrine.

  • Hiroshima Port Station for transfers to boats and ferries in Japan's Seto inland sea.

  • Convenient access within most of the the city center. For a full map see here.

By presenting the pass at the Miyajima Ropeway (Momijidani Station ticket counter) you will receive a 25% discount when buying a ropeway round-trip ticket (only 1500 yen instead of 2000 yen). This discount is available for round-trip tickets only, not for one-way tickets. The discount is available only for the pass holder and only on the day the pass is valid.
