How to go from Hakodate to Sapporo

Hakodate and Sapporo are two of the biggest city of Hokkaido and can easily be reached by train, bus, or car. 

Note that there is no Shinkansen in Hokkaido yet. As of today, the Hokkaido Shinkansen goes from Tokyo to Shin Hakodate Station. The extension to Sapporo will be introduced in 2030 or later.

Hakodate, located in the south of Hokkaido, is the third-biggest city on the Hokkaido island. Known for its beautiful night view, the city is just a bridge away from Japan’s main island, Honshu. The heart of Hakodate lies in Motomachi, a neighborhood filled with little streets and foreign style buildings, such as the Russian Consulate and Orthodox Church. Enchanting in winter, fresh in summer, this city is the destination to many of Japan’s lovers, including Japanese travelers themselves !
