What is Akame Valley?

Welcome to the valley of Akame, just at the limit of Nara and Mie prefectures. Besides being known for its magnificent waterfalls, between the 15th and 18th centuries, it was the training ground for the ninja of Iga-ryu (Iga school, the most famous ninja school in Japan).

At that time, as the power of the warriors in the Iga province was greater than that of the officials, the territory was divided between feudal lords, resulting in endless infighting. As a result of this constant atmosphere of warfare, the warriors of Iga developed special skills and tactics.

Train in Ninjutsu in the Ninja Forest

At the entrance to the valley, on the mountain slopes, is the "Ninja Forest", the training site of the ninja, or "Shinobi" by their original name. Here, the whole family can dress up in ninja costumes and train in the wilderness in all sorts of unbeatable techniques:

• Shuriken (throwing star) practice
• Blow dart techniques
• Climbing and infiltration exercises
• Balance and stealth training

You will learn to walk and hide in trees, cross rivers, fight an enemy in the dark, and more—just like real ninjas.

At the end of the training, you'll receive a certificate, proving that espionage, infiltration and guerrilla warfare are no longer secrets for you!

Outdoor activity for the whole family

The Akame 48 Waterfalls area offers a 4 km scenic path, where you’ll spot rare wildlife like the Japanese giant salamander. The remote wooded valley of Akame contains five particularly spectacular waterfalls: Fudo, Senju, Nunobiki, Ninai and Biwa, which you can see by walking deep into the forest for about 3 hours.

So it’s not just a cultural activity—it’s a full outdoor adventure. The price includes entrance to the Akame 48 Waterfalls park. If you really feel like a ninja, you can continue the tour of the waterfalls park in your costume!

Cancellation Policy:

• Up to 7 days before: 0% cancellation fee
• Between 7 days and 5 PM the day before: 50% cancellation fee
• After 5 PM the day before and on the same day: 100% cancellation fee

• Children under 3 years of age enter for free. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Please wear a long-sleeved T-shirt under your costume and athletic shoes (sandals and crocs will not be accepted).
• The activity only takes place on weekends.
• The staff speaks only limited English and will communicate mainly through gestures.
• Please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the activity to get changed.
• If coming by public transportation, the Akame valley is located 1h30 to 2h from Osaka or Nagoya. Make sure to plan your arrival accordingly.
