What is teamLab Biovortex Kyoto?
Located within the Kyoto City Botanical Garden, the installation visualizes the unseen flows of wind, water, and life; a living digital ecosystem where art, technology, and nature intertwine. Your movements influence the luminous swirls around you, creating ever-changing patterns of light and motion. Each visit becomes a dialogue between the human body and the natural world, constantly regenerating in real time.
No two experiences are ever the same — every step reshapes the artwork itself. A meditative journey inviting you to rediscover the fragile beauty of life’s interconnected cycles.
How does the experience unfold at teamLab: Biovortex Kyoto?
At Biovortex Kyoto you’ll traverse four floors, spanning over 10,000 m², with more than 50 distinct artworks housed in a labyrinth of immersive spaces. You’ll enter a vast darkened hall where floating “massless” bubble-like forms drift through air (“Massless Amorphous Sculpture”). Wander into the “Forest of Resonating Lamps” where hundreds of illuminated lanterns respond to your movement and shift colour. In the “Athletics Forest” zone you’ll climb, balance, jump and physically engage as light, sound and motion react to your body.
Other rooms surround you with crystalline light fields, endless reflections and mirror-floors, and digital ecosystems where your presence alters waves of colour, form and motion. The experience feels part museum, part playground, and wholly an invitation to become part of the art itself.

※ Things to know before booking
What to wear & bring:
- Comfortable footwear such as sneakers or flat‐soled shoes are strongly recommended — high heels, sandals or unstable shoes may be restricted in some zones.
- Lightweight, easy‐to‐move‐in clothing is ideal. Avoid very long skirts or dresses, especially in areas with reflective/mirror floors where mobility and modesty wraps may be offered.
- Light-colored clothes will enhance your photos and help you “pop” against the dark/immersive installations.
- Because the space is dimly lit and has uneven surfaces or stairs, pay attention to footing and carry minimal luggage.
Due to high demand, especially during weekends and holidays, entry slots are limited. If your requested time is unavailable, we may offer an alternative schedule. Please check your email regularly for updates or suggestions.
If we cannot accommodate your request, a full refund will be issued.
