Which trains are included in the TAKAYAMA-HOKURIKU Area Tourist Pass?

✅ Kansai Airport Express Haruka Between KIX, Osaka and Kyoto. Includes fee for seat reservation; please reserve before boarding.

✅ JR Limited Express (including Thunderbird), Express and local trains

Between Osaka, Kyoto and Tsuruga

✅ Hokuriku Shinkansen (Tsuruga - Kanazawa - Toyama; non-reserved)

✅ 6x free seat reservation on JR Limited Express and Hokuriku Shinkansen Kagayaki, Hakutaka, and Tsurugi

Which trains are not included in the TAKAYAMA-HOKURIKU Area Tourist Pass?

In order to take the trains, you can buy the TAKAYAMA-HOKURIKU Tourist Pass on our website. You will receive a paper voucher by regular mail to your address. Consider ordering in advance of your departure.

Reception and Exchange process

After your purchase on our website, we will send you paper voucher by regular mail to your address. All orders received before 2 pm are handled the same day, except on weekends & public holidays. Please find a delivery estimate here according to your country and delivery method.

The paper voucher can not be used directly to take trains in Japan. You need to exchange the paper voucher to receive the physical regional pass. With this pass you can ride the trains. The exchange can be done at a JR Ticket Office in a train station within the usage area (see list below). You will need to show your paper voucher and your passport. Please always carry your passport when using the pass, as station and train staff may ask to check it.

The paper voucher has to be exchanged within 3 months (90 days) after reception.

  Only the exchange at the airport is possible, but all transfer options to Nagoya are run by private lines and need to be paid separately. You can use the pass starting from Nagoya.

Tourists or Business travelers who have a Temporary Visitor entry status can use this pass.

Japanese passport holders and foreigners living in Japan can’t use this pass.

Please contact us with your order number within one year of issuance. The cancellation fee is 15%. It can be waived in case of a new voucher purchase.

Modification of your usage date

To change the duration of use of your pass or if you wish to purchase a different regional pass instead, please first place a new order for a regional pass. Then return your unused voucher to us (see address list), stating your new order number. In the case of a new purchase, no cancellation fee will apply. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our Customer Support.

Cancellation Conditions

If you wish to cancel within one year from the issue date, you will receive a refund with a cancellation fee of 15% for the unused voucher.

The voucher can only be refunded within one year of the issue date. A refund is NOT possible if we are contacted more than one year from the issue date.

Only a voucher, which has never been exchanged in Japan can be refunded. A refund is NOT accepted by Japan Experience for a redeemed ticket, even if not used to take a train. In exceptional cases, the JR Ticket office where you exchanged the voucher maybe able to grant a refund for a redeemed ticket.
