Distant Neighborhood 遥かな町へ
A distant neighborhood
Dozing on a train and waking up… in the past. On returning to his home village, this is what happens to a forty-something Japanese man who finds himself back in his youth in his teenage body, but with his adult mind. It makes for an unusual and nostalgic story with occasional touches of humor. The author artfully depicts the passing of time and a future that moves ever closer, unchangeable despite already having been lived through.
Even the most reluctant manga reader should give this a try for the universal message and the appeal of the illustrations.By Jirō Taniguchi, published in Japan in two volumes since 1998.
