A Pottery Workshop in the Middle of Tokyo

This is a one-hour pottery trial workshop, where beginners and curious travelers can try their hand at crafting ceramics in Tokyo. You’ll be introduced to the electric potter’s wheel and simple hand-building techniques to shape clay into personal tableware like cups, bowls, and plates. Under patient guidance, you’ll experience the tactile joy of working with clay, exploring basic forms and letting your creativity flow.

After the workshop, you’ll choose from a palette of 15 glazes for your favorite pieces. Once your work is trimmed, glazed, and fired (usually within 3–4 weeks), you can collect it or have it shipped home (shipping extra).

A Mindful Moment

Pottery is a deeply tactile and expressive craft that invites you to slow down, focus, and enjoy making something with your own hands. Japan has a rich ceramic heritage, and this class offers a beginner-friendly gateway into that world right in central Tokyo. Whether you’ve never touched clay before or you’re simply curious, this activity lets you experience how clay responds to pressure and motion, and how simple tools can create functional art.

The supportive studio environment helps you learn at your own pace while exploring fundamental techniques used by ceramic artists. In a world where most everyday objects are mass-produced, this class reconnects you with the joy of handcraft and creative play.
