Ticket - Train - Goryokaku - Hakodate

For a complete visit to Goryokaku Park and the observation tower, we estimate that you should allow approximately 2 to 3 hours. A walk through the park itself, including the local museum located in the former barracks, can take 1 to 1.5 hours. Visiting Goryokaku Tower and observing from the platform usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. This time allows you to appreciate the view and consult the historical information displayed inside the tower. During peak periods, such as cherry blossom season, additional waiting times may apply for access to the tower.

From Hakodate Station, several transportation options are available to reach Goryokaku Park. We recommend using the tram or bus for their convenience. For the tram, take Line 2 or Line 5 and get off at the "Goryokaku Koen-mae" (五稜郭公園前) stop. Goryokaku Park and Goryokaku Tower are then about a 15-minute walk from this stop.

Access to Goryokaku Park is free. However, admission to Goryokaku Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the star-shaped fort and the surrounding Hakodate area, is charged. For adults, the fee is generally 1,000 yen. Reduced rates are available for junior high/high school students and elementary school children. We recommend checking the exact prices on-site or on the official tower website before your visit, as they may be subject to slight changes.

If you prefer the bus, several Hakodate Bus lines connect Hakodate Station directly to the vicinity of the park. Look for buses bound for "Goryokaku Tower" (五稜郭タワー前). The "Goryokaku Tower-mae" (五稜郭タワー前) stop is located directly in front of the tower and park entrance, minimizing walking. Line numbers may vary, so it is best to check the schedules displayed at the station or use a local transport app for the latest information.
