Leaving Hiroshima, the Shinkansen runs along Honshu's southern coast before traversing the mountains separating Okayama from the Kansai region. After passing Kyoto, the train crosses the Sekigahara plain, an area historically known for heavy snowfall that can sometimes slow down trains in winter. Upon arrival, Nagoya Station stands out with its two monumental skyscrapers integrated into the terminal, which are among the tallest railway towers in the world and serve as a central landmark above the platforms.
