The unique designs of the One Piece Shinkansen bullet trains

There are three different iterations of the One Piece Shinkansen. The original one that debuted back on April 12th, 2025; the Tony Tony Chopper Shinkansen that debuted on May 28th, 2025; and then the Monkey D. Luffy Shinkansen that premiered on July 2nd, 2025.

Setouchi Blue Shinkansen bullet train: The original One Piece Shinkansen is designed around the theme of " En route to the Grand Line," in reference to the mythical ocean called the Grand Line from the series. Reflecting the real-life environment that the train runs through, the train car interior is reminiscent of the waves of the Setouchi Sea.
The Toy Tony Chopper Shinkansen Bullet Train: The color scheme is obviously based upon the adorable, chibi-reindeer doctor of the Strawhat Pirates.
The Monkey D. Luffy Shinkansen bullet train: This bullet train’s design reflects the series’s main character, Monkey D. Luffy. Outfitted with gold and red detailing that is derived from his open red shirt and golden sash and straw hat, the color scheme is recognizable and vibrant.

What makes these Shinkansen bullet trains truly special are the exclusive illustrations that adorn the interior of the carriages. Series hero Luffy and his crew of the Straw Hat Pirates are depicted in dynamic poses, accompanied by other iconic characters. These bullet trains operate on the Sanyo Line operated by JR West. These trains go from the Kansai region all the way down to Fukuoka on Kyushu Island. The One Piece Shinkansen will primarily operate as a Kodama Shinkansen on this line, meaning they will stop at all stations along the route.
