The Tarumizu to Kamoike Ferry crosses Kogoshima Bay from Tarumizu on the east to Kamoike on the west. There are frequent sailings that take 50 minutes.

Tarumizu, a small port on the west coast of the Osumi Peninsula in southern Kagoshima Prefecture is connected with Kagoshima city across Kagoshima Bay by a small car ferry.
The 16 kilometer journey takes 50 minutes and is within view of the active volcano of Sakurajima the whole way. The ferry lands at Kamoike Port to the south of Kagoshima city.
There are 25 crossings each way per day, starting at 5:20 am and finishing at 10:30 pm. For foot passengers the one way fare is 480 yen, 240 yen for children. Bicycles are an extra 260 yen, mopeds 350 yen, small motorbikes 510 yen, and large motorbikes 680 yen. Cars start at 1,250 yen including the driver but not the passengers.

Ferry Facilities
The lounge is fairly standard for this type of ferry, with comfortable seats, A/C in summer and heated in winter, with the ubiquitous large screen TV. There is a cafe onboard serving drinks and snacks and whose specialty is various kinds of udon noodles. There are also numerous drinks vending machines.

30 minutes by local bus from Kagoshima-chuo Station terminating at the ferry terminal. The nearest train station is 1.8 km away, Minami Kagoshima on the JR Ibusukimakurazaki Line, 5 mins from Kagoshima-chuo Station. The nearest tram station is Namidabashi, 1.7 km away.

A local bus connects Tarumizu Ferry Terminal with Shibushi Station, the terminal of the JR Nichinan Line from Miyazaki. The bus passes through Kanoya on the way.
A small express bus goes directly between Kagoshima-chuo Station and Kanoya utilizing the Tarumizu Ferry.
