To travel from Kofu to Tokyo station, travelers have two main options: train and bus.
By Train: The fastest and most comfortable method is to use the Limited Express “Kaiji” or “Azusa” trains on the JR Chuo Line. These trains directly connect Kofu Station to Shinjuku Station in Tokyo station. Some “Azusa” services may extend their journey to Tokyo station . The train journey typically takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. These trains are known for their punctuality and comfortable seating.
By Bus: Highway buses also operate between Kofu and Tokyo station. They offer an often more economical alternative, but the journey is longer. Buses generally depart from Kofu Bus Terminal and arrive at Busta Shinjuku (Shinjuku Bus Terminal).

The cost of a Limited Express Kaiji ticket between Kofu and Shinjuku varies depending on the seat type.
An unreserved seat (jiyu-seki) costs approximately 3,500 to 3,800 yen.
A reserved seat (shitei-seki) is generally around 4,000 to 4,500 yen.
Fares may vary slightly depending on the season and availability.

Shinjuku Station is the usual arrival station for Limited Express Kaiji and Azusa trains from Kofu, as well as for buses. Shinjuku is a major commercial, entertainment, and business hub. It's an excellent starting point for exploring western Tokyo station and is very well-served by numerous JR and subway lines.
Tokyo station is often considered the historic and financial heart of the city, housing the Imperial Palace nearby and serving as a major hub for Shinkansen and JR lines heading east. If your final destination is around Marunouchi, Ginza, or if you have a Shinkansen connection, Tokyo station is more convenient. Direct Azusa trains sometimes arrive there; otherwise, a short journey via the JR Chuo Rapid Line from Shinjuku can connect you.
