A City That Continues to Question and Inspire
Eighty years after the atomic bombing, Hiroshima stands as a place where memory, reflection, and the pursuit of peace come together. The Hiroshima Peace Dialogue Tour is more than a guided visit — it is an encounter with history through conversation, empathy, and the voices of Hiroshima’s youth.
Led by local young guides known as Peace Buddies, from "Peace Culture Village", an NPO organisation conducting educational and experiential workshops to build a sustainable and peaceful culture, this dialogue-based program takes you through the Peace Memorial Park and the surrounding sites. Together, you will explore what Hiroshima once was — including the lively Nakajima district that stood here before the bombing — and how the city has rebuilt itself with determination and hope. Through stories spanning the past, present, and future, Peace Buddies help you connect with the lives, feelings, and aspirations of the people who once lived here.
As you walk through the park, you are invited not only to learn about the tragedy of war but also to sense Hiroshima’s unique atmosphere — a place where ordinary life continues, and where the meaning of peace is an ever-evolving question.
A Transformative Dialogue on Peace
What makes this experience truly profound is the reflective exchange it encourages. Rather than passively listening, participants engage in open dialogue about the consequences of war, the reality of nuclear weapons, and the kind of peaceful and sustainable society we hope to build.
Side by side with your Peace Buddy, you will engage with questions that can only arise here — questions shaped by place, memory, and shared humanity.
This is a moment to pause, to feel, and to consider your own relationship with peace. The Hiroshima Peace Dialogue Tour is not simply a visit: it is a transformative encounter that invites empathy, challenges assumptions, and inspires each of us to reflect on the world we want to create.
