The journey from Kyoto to Ueno takes approximately 2h35 to 2h45. You will take the Nozomi Shinkansen to Tokyo Station (approximately 2h20-2h30), then a local JR line such as the Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku to Ueno (approximately 5-8 minutes). Allow 5 to 10 minutes for the transfer at Tokyo Station.
