The Hokkaido main station

Sapporo Station is the main station of Hokkaido Island. It is also home to many shops and to the JR Tower, the tallest building in Sapporo.

Sapporo Station was inaugurated in 1880. The current building dates from 2003.



Sapporo station will host the shinkansen in 2030 when the line will be extended from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto.

The lines 

Sapporo Station has 10 platforms and is served by the following lines : JR Hakodate Line, which connect Sapporo to Shin Hakodate Hokuto and Hakodate, Chitose Line, which serves with the Airport Service Line, New Chitose Airport and the Sassho Line.Two subway lines, the Namboku and Toho lines, are also connected to the station.

Express trains

The Lilac and Kamui Express trains link Sapporo to Asahikawa, Super Soya and Sarobetsu Express trains, Wakkanai, Hokuto and Super Hokuto trains, Hakodate and Super Ozora, Kushiro.

In this region of Japan, traffic conditions are sometimes difficult. Some trains arrive from time to time full of snow in the station !
