Kami-Ikebukuro
The district of Kami-Ikebukuro is located in the North (Kita in Japanese) of the large Ikebukuro station, approximately 10 minutes away by foot (and 3 minutes by taxi). Even in the busy city of Tokyo, as soon as you leave the main roads, you will find the calm districts and residential areas.
- Pluses: Quick access to Tokyo's major centres (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ueno, Akihabara...). A handy district for accessing the shops (Maruetsu Supermarket, Family Mart Konbini, bento sellers...). A district that is quiet at night and in the daytime, as soon as you move away from the Meiji Dori.
- Minuses: Not many traditional restaurants close by, but around the station you are spoiled for choice. The Meji Dori and its pavements are sometimes a little bit congested to access the large Ikebukuro station.
