Peace Dome, in Hiroshima

Hiroshima Discovery, Full Day

Spend a memorable and enjoyable full day in the historical city of Hiroshima!

The opinion of Japan Experience

Hiroshima is perhaps most famous for being the first city in the world to be destroyed by a nuclear bomb. Although this history is still clearly evident, it is not the only thing that Hiroshima is famous for. The thing that will strike you most about this city is that rather than being a depressing place, it is a place of peace, hope and love and its locals are full of enthusiasm for their home which they will want to share with you at every opportunity.

Completely rebuilt after the war, it is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Western Japan and is lucky enough to have easy access to both mountains and the Seto Inland Sea. It may be smaller than other cities in the area, but it has friendly locals and as a result of its past, a courage and spirit that cannot be found anywhere else in Japan.

Your Travel Angel's plus

Alexis has a particular gift to discover (and make discover) places in Hiroshima that few tourists know.

Walking through the Peace Park, marveling at the Atomic Bomb Dome and visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Alexis will also take you to a few of the other essential Hiroshima sights: Hiroshima Castle and Shukkei-en Garden.

For a view of the city, the surrounding mountains and all the way to the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, why not visit the newly opened Orizuru Tower? If you’d prefer somewhere fewer tourists go, ask Alexis to show you his ‘secret’ spot where the view is free and you can rest while enjoying a cup of coffee or something to eat.

Of course, Alexis can also show you around the main shopping area of Hiroshima: the downtown area of Hondori (‘main street’ in Japanese) and Shareo, the underground shopping mall. If you’re looking to stock up on souvenirs such as traditional crafts or the “only in Japan” items like green tea Kit Kats, let Alexis take you to SunMall and Don Quijote (‘Donki’ as it’s affectionately known), a huge discount store where you can buy anything and everything. There’s even an 8% discount if you show your passport!

For lunch you have a range of options: will you choose the famous okonomiyaki, a selection of supermarket or convenience store food to have a picnic in the Peace Park, or one of the many restaurants located in the downtown shopping area? It’s all up to you!

Remember, if there is anything special you want to do or anywhere you want to go, just ask Alexis, he is always more than happy to oblige!
After the tour ends, Alexis can recommend some ideas for how to spend your evening and can also suggest some of his favorite places to eat and drink.

Your guide will be in touch with you a few days before by email or phone to decide on a convenient meeting place and time, and you are more than welcome to ask about any activities you are interested in.
Tours usually start in the lobby of your hotel or at your accommodation. Alexis will meet you at a mutually decided time before sitting down and talking briefly about what it is you would like to see, what you would like to do and where you would like to go on the tour. You can also ask Alexis to take you somewhere that few tourists know about!

When there are more than 8 participants, extra fees will be applied. There are no discounts for children.
