Discover Kyushu with a steam train
Starting from Kumamoto, the SL Hitoyoshi Steam train ride along the Kuma River and reach Hitoyoshi in 2 hours and 24 minutes
From Kumamoto to Hitoyoshi
The SL Hitoyoshi has 3 cars which are exclusively available through seat reservation and has only a few ride per week. Click here for the operation schedule.
There is only one departure per day :
Departure time in Kumamoto : 9h45
Arrival time in Hitoyoshi : 12h09
Departure Time in Hitoyoshi : 14h38
Arrival time in Kumamoto : 17h14
Once in Hotoyoshi, do not miss the Kurimeshi Bento (chestnut rice lunch).

Car 1 and car 3 are observation cars where you can seat and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view. Snacks and beverage are available in car 2.
A collection of books and a historical display on board will make you feel back in the history.
This train is covered with the All Kyushu Area Pass and the Southern Kyushu Area Pass.
