Meet Ren and G, the World Cup lions!
Discover the two creatures chosen to cheer on the teams at the Rugby World Cup which will take place for the first time in Japan in 2019.
On Friday January 26, the mascots in the colors of Japan were presented to journalists and television channels. It was obvious that the 2019 Rugby World Cup has its mascots, because even though it is the first time since 1999, Japan is a specialist in the matter. There are so many figures to represent cities, universities, museums, monuments and other places that the government has considered establishing mascot population control !

Ren and G , forming the parent-child duo Ren-G (in Japanese レ ン ジ ーrenjî ), were created to represent and promote the 5 values of rugby which are integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline and respect. With their heads in the shape of a rugby ball , the lion-like mascots from Japanese mythology must bring happiness and repel evil spirits. They showed their talents by passing each other and performing a dance that is found in the forms of Kabuki and Noh theater.
We will therefore closely follow the adventures of these two new characters, even if the World Cup does not begin until September 20, 2019 . This is also the first one that will take place in Asia! The opportunity to popularize rugby which is slowly creating a place in the hearts of the Japanese.
