How to go from the airport to Kyoto station ?

How to reach Kyoto from Kansai International Airport with a Japan Rail Pass ?

Access to Kyoto

Kansai International Airport is situated about 50 km from the center of Osaka and 60 km from JR Shin-Osaka Station. It is the gateway for the Kansai area in Japan (which include the cities of Kobe, Osaka and Kyoto).

Please note that there is an other airport near Osaka called Osaka International Airport more focused on the domestic network.

Using the Japan Rail Pass that you can exchange at the JR Ticket Office (opening hours 5h30 - 23h00), the easiest and cheapest way to reach Kyoto is to take the JR Airport Express Haruka Train. You will reach Kyoto Station in 75 minutes (departure 2/hours).

There is another train, called the JR Rapid Train, this also goes to Kyoto but takes a bit longer (95 minutes).
If you plan to exchange your Japan Rail Pass after your arrival, there are two other ways to reach Kyoto: by train with privates Lines (Nankai and Kintetsu) or by mini bus with the shuttle van service.
