Our travel tips to travel in and around Kyoto
Kyoto is a very walkable city. However, to go from one side to another you may need to use local transport. Its transportation system is complicated and some places are accessible only by buses.
From Kyoto Station you will be able to easily reach all areas of the city thanks to the local subway lines, the bus network and the JR train lines. Kyoto Station also serves as a major stop on the Tokaido-Sanyo Line, allowing for access to cities like Osaka and Hiroshima It is also accessible from Tokyo Station and Hakone via Odawara through this same Shinkansen bullet train line.
