Before attending the Olympic events in Tokyo, visit the archipelago's must-sees: the traditional city of Kyoto, the one filled with history of Hiroshima and Hakone at the foot of Mount Fuji.

Stay 4 nights in Kyoto, 2 nights in Hiroshima, 1 night in Hakone and 5 nights in Tokyo:

The departure dates in Kyoto and at the end of the tour in Tokyo concern to your stay in Japan. You will need to take the plane the day before from Europe.

Note for hotels:
Single room additional fee is mandatory for any odd number of participants. However, triple rooms, depending on the hotel
category, may be available upon request.
Please note that in case of single supplement, it will be applied in all accommodations except in the ryokan in Hakone. Indeed, for traditional accommodation, there are no single rooms but you will find spacious rooms for up to 5 people.
The night in ryokan has some specificities. See Hakone-Mount Fuji step.

In Japan, a densely populated country where everything is smaller, the 2 ** and 3 *** hotels are of good quality but the rooms are often narrow (10 to 18m2 depending on the hotel). For more comfort, do not hesitate to contact us for an upgrade in a 4 **** hotel.

Rooms for 2 people in Western hotels have by default 2 separate single beds ("twin" room). Contact us to get a double bed at no extra cost but no guarantee of availability. Note that double bed rooms are smaller than twins.


Flights:
* Flight prices by dates (with airport transfers included - by shared shuttle airport-hotel in Kyoto and public transport in Tokyo) are given for information only on the page "reservation basket". This price includes airport taxes which can be revised if necessary.

The departure dates in Kyoto and at the end of the tour in Tokyo concern your stay in Japan. You will need to take the plane the day before from Europe. The return flight, via Narita or Haneda airport, is the same day given the favorable time difference.

Several excursions are possible around Kyoto:

- Nara, the first permanent capital of Japan where deer live in complete freedom (1h by train). Visit its iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Todaiji temple or Kasuga Taisha shrine.

- Off the beaten track for a tour of the tea fields in the countryside near Kyoto (optional, contact us).

- The famous and beautiful Himeji Castle (50 min from Kyoto by shinkansen).

KYOTO

HIROSHIMA

Train to Hiroshima from Kyoto, included with the Japan Rail Pass (2 hours).

- The Shukkei garden
- Hiroshima Castle

HIROSHIMA - MIYAJIMA

Breakfast at the hotel.

Go on the must-see island of Miyajima by boat (free with your JR pass from Miyajimaguchi):
- Visit of Itsukushima-jinja Shrine and its big traditional japanese gate ootorii *
- Museum of Folklore (Egami House)
- Senjokaku shinto temple and pagoda

Return and evening in Hiroshima.

* The ootorii will be under construction until August 2020

MIYAJIMA

Night in Hiroshima.

HAKONE

Breakfast at the hotel.

Take the shinkansen from Hiroshima to Hakone, included with the Japan Rail Pass and with the Hakone Free Pass (about 4h).

Check into your ryokan, traditional Japanese hotel.

Visit some essentials:
- Gora-koen Park
- Chokoku-no-mori, Japan's first Open Air Museum and its hundreds of sculptures
- The incredible volcanic site of Owakudani *

* The site may be inaccessible due to volcanic activity.

HAKONE

Traditional Japanese dinner (included in your tour) and night in your ryokan.

In Ryokan 3 ***, you sleep on comfortable futons on the tatami. The bathroom, onsen, is shared except if you choose the option "traditional bath in the room" ($135 / person). In a 4-star ryokan, you sleep on futons or on Western beds in a traditional tatami room. The bathrooms are private.

HAKONE - TOKYO

Traditional japanese breakfast at the ryokan.

Continue your visit of Hakone:
- Hakone Jinja Shrine
- Lake Ashi-no-ko, its Japanese gate torii and its breathtaking view of Mount Fuji
- Walk along the old Tokaido Highway that connected Tokyo to Kyoto

Take the train from Hakone to Odawara, then the shinkansen to Tokyo (included with your Japan Rail Pass).

Arrival in Tokyo. Be ready for the Olympic Games!

The countless "Izakaya" (typical Japanese bars) of Tokyo will welcome you for a beer and / or "yakitori" (chicken skewer).

Transfer to Narita or Haneda airport by direct door-to-door shuttle bus from your hotel.
