A traditional textile shop on Shinmonzen-dori in the heart of the Gion district, Konjaku Nishimura, offers a spectacular collection of antique clothing such as a kimono and obi as well as other colorful vintage items.
Kimonos are part of Japan's history and its identity: Konjaku Nishimura will take you back in time, showcasing kimonos dating from the Taisho era (1912-1926) and the beginning of the Showa era (1926-1989), the collection combines the beauty of silk fabric and the portability of the garment. Note that precious ornaments from previous eras, true works of art are stored for protection for their fragility.
For the lovers of the Edo period (1603-1867), the store boasts a special use of fabrics, applied to modern accessories. There are bags, belts, and ties dyed with magnificent patterns. Whether you appreciate the romanticism of the Taisho era or simply the quality fabrics, Konjaku Nishimura kimonos offer a glimpse of the old world.
