The Imperial Palace's East Garden, a historic site in Tokyo, offers ideal views of the city.
This Japanese garden of the Imperial Palace is the only part accessible to the public in the areas of the emperor. Enter for free, and find the homes to many samurai training houses, a former outpost of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu's (1543-1616) castle. Of this castle, there are only the stones of the wall left, visible from the bottom of the garden. It used to be at the top of the hill overlooking the town, but is still a beautiful view of Tokyo.
The garden is very popular but it is best to avoid the middle of the day in summer because the area is completely exposed to the sun and you can not hide. An air-conditioned rest area however is at the top of the hill, with a panoramic view.
