From September 26 to 28, the Roppongi district is transformed into an open-air gallery. What can you expect from this 14th edition? Japan Experience tells you all about it.

Every year, the Roppongi Art Night festival transforms the Roppongi district into a vast open-air gallery! The aim? To make art accessible to all and celebrate its integration into everyday life.

From Roppongi Hills to the Mori Art Museum, via Tokyo Midtown, discover street performances, admire contemporary sculptures and interact with digital works scattered throughout the district over two days of festivities.

Under the aegis of the Tokyo and the city's arts council, Roppongi Art Night is a major event on the Japanese art scene. This 2025 edition is no exception.

Roppongi Art Night 2025: focus on Korea

This year, Roppongi Art Night commemorates 60 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea.

Themed "A festival of the city, art and the future", the event features over 30 artists, including several South Korean creators. Among them are Ayoung Kim, a filmmaker who caused a sensation with the exhibition ''Machine Love: Video Games, AI and Contemporary Art'' at the Mori Art Museum earlier this year, and Jibin Im, an artist known for his urban works created from bear-shaped balloons.

While free shuttle buses usually run between Roppongi and the capital's major centers throughout the night, this will not be the case this year, as the performances will end each evening between 8 and 10 pm. However, some merchants will be extending their opening hours, so that festival-goers can enjoy a bite to eat during their nocturnal escapades.
