A day of sightseeing in Kobe 神戸一日で満喫

Our program for a day visit to Kobe, accessible by the Shinkansen, high-speed train from Osaka:

• Western Villas

It is on the heights of the city of Kobe, in the Kitano district, that you can stroll among sumptuous Western residences. Kobe opened its foreign trading portals in the late1850s. Among them, many wealthy Westerners were able to build these villas. Today, several of them have become museums or cafes.

• Chinatown

A few years before the coming of the Westerners, Chinese traders settled in Kobe, and traces of this Chinese community can still be found today in the Nankinmachi district, located in the heart of the city. This is the perfect place to try the delicious Chinese meat buns or kebabs, freshly prepared in a constellation of street stalls!

• Arima onsen

Need to take a break? Arima Onsen is one of the most famous in Japan. It is located on the other side of Mount Rokkô, a little ways away from Kobe, inviting bathers and walkers fleeing the hustle and bustle of the city.

• Mount Rokkô

Very close to Shin-Kobe Station (Shinkansen Station), you will find the cable car that will take you to the top of Mount Rokkô, the highest point of the eponymous mountain range. From there, take in this stunning view of the city of Kobe, especially at dusk, when the lights fade and the city adorns itself with its sparkling attributes.
