A bustling, cosmopolitan city, Tokyo is a hub for cuisine. Some of the world’s best restaurants are laced throughout the city’s winding streets, but at the same time, some of its most attractive establishments are located above the ground level, operating out of high-rises and other buildings, providing excellent food with beautiful views of the sprawling Tokyo skyline.
Here are some of our favorite places to eat in Tokyo with great views. Both a combination of specific restaurants and locations that house a number of different businesses are featured!
- Yebisu Garden Place Tower
- The Jade Room + Garden Terrace Tokyo Edition TORANOMON
- Tokyo Opera City Tower
- Beige by Alain Ducasse
- Shin-Marunouchi Building/Marunouchi House
Yebisu Garden Place Tower, Floor 38 and 39
- 4 Chome-20-3 Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo 150-6004
Yebisu Garden Place is located at the East Exit of Ebisu Station, and the area is actually named after the line of lager produced by Sapporo Breweries. Yebisu Garden Place is a multi-facility plaza host to a shopping mall, hotel, museums, and, of course, restaurants! On the ground level, the area’s crown jewel is 3-Michelin-starred Joel Robuchon’s, but on the 38th and 39th floors of the Yebisu Garden Place Tower are a number of restaurants that offer fantastic views of the Tokyo cityscape. During the day, if the weather is clear, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance. We highly recommend eating dinner at one of the many restaurants at night, when the city is illuminated and Tokyo Tower can be seen in the distance.
Our personal favorite restaurant here is Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa, specializing in Japanese freshwater eel dishes. At this location, live eels are kept in-house in flowing water to optimize quality and freshness. The ippon unagi kabayaki is the signature dish, consisting of one whole eel butterflied, grilled, and glazed with their signature sauce. There is counter seating facing the outside, offering a great view of the city to complement the great view of glistening, steaming unagi right in front of you.
Other great options on the 38th and 39th floors include Konbuya, an izakaya specializing in oden and sake and Rotisserie Blue, offering high-quality and hearty roast chicken-centric cuisine.

The Jade Room + Garden Terrace at the Tokyo Edition TORANOMON
- 〒105-0001 Tokyo, Minato City, Toranomon, 4 Chome−1−1
The Tokyo Edition in Toranomon is at the forefront of Tokyo’s current generation of high-end hotels. But in addition to being a great place of accommodation, it is a hotspot for foodies thanks to its quality restaurants and renowned cocktail bars. Located on the 31st floor, the same floor as the hotel reception, the Jade Room + Garden Terrace is one of the best locations for a central Tokyo date or night out with friends or family. The building is within close proximity to Tokyo Tower, the famous landmark of the city that was erected in 1957, based off of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and largely intended as a broadcast tower for the Kanto area. From the restaurant, and especially the attached Garden Terrace with outdoor seating, stark views of the tower can be seen. At night especially, it is a feast for the eyes.

@Japan Experience
But in regard to the feast for the stomach, you are in good hands at The Jade Room. The menu is spearheaded by Chef Tom Aikens, whose famous restaurant Muse in London holds one Michelin star. Utilizing high-quality Japanese ingredients like pork from Yamagata Prefecture, wagyu beef from Gunma Prefecture, and fresh seafood from all around the waters of the archipelago, the dishes are a celebration of Japan’s culinary culture that is reinterpreted with international techniques. Dishes can be ordered a la carte, or diners may indulge in the curated seven-course tasting menu and wine pairing.

Tokyo Opera City Tower, Floor 53 “Sky Restaurant”
- 3 Chome-20-2 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 163-1407
A little bit away from central Shinjuku is Tokyo Opera City, a cultural hub building with concert and recital halls and a gallery. All the way up on the 53rd floor, however, is what is dubbed “the Sky Restaurant” level, with a number of high-end culinary institutions. Tokyo Opera City Tower is located right by Hatsudai Station on the New Keio Line and only one stop away from Shinjuku. Instead of being amongst the bundle of skyscrapers, it is a bit removed from this area and allows onlookers to see the more congested part of the cityscape from a distance.
Floor 53 boasts a well-curated roster of restaurants specializing in high-end cuisine. Matsusakaushi Yoshida specializes in Matsusaka wagyu from Mie Prefecture, served in iterations of flattop grilled teppanyaki fare, shabu-shabu, and sukiyaki. Ichimishin is known for its elegant combination of Japanese and French cuisine and then OPERA, a dessert restaurant, specializes solely in elevated sweets, perfect for after your main meal with great views as well!
Beige by Alain Ducasse
〒104-0061 Tokyo, Chuo City, Ginza, 3 Chome−5−3
Beige is an establishment that well encapsulates the charm of Ginza. Located within the Ginza Chanel flagship store, the Japanese-French Michelin-starred restaurant is outfitted with refined and tasteful decorations with Chanel branding, and the large outside wall is made up of large windows that look out to the elegant architecture of Ginza’s streets and rooftops. There is also an outdoor champagne bar on one of the higher floor terraces that offers great views as well.
Founded by legendary Chef Alain Ducasse, the menu takes the highest quality ingredients available from Japan and around the world and interprets them with both Japanese and French techniques. Both the lunch and dinnertime menus come in the form of a course, but with each one providing options for the diner. The desserts are also a calling card of the menu, as delicious as they are beautiful. For many, the rum baba is the favorite, with the choice of topping rum presented by the sommelier.

Shin-Marunouchi Building/Marunouchi House
- 1 Chome-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-6590
The Marunouchi Exit of Tokyo Station, with its bright red bricks and Taisho-era detailing, is an architectural symbol of the city. The Marunouchi area as a whole is a great place to spend time, with a refined, relaxed environment and host to good shopping, cafes, and, of course, restaurants. Across the street from the station is the Shin-Marunouchi Building, a multi-level shopping center. On the 5th and 6th floors is an array of restaurants, many of which have large windows. The 7th floor is known as “Marunouchi House,” which also has a great set of restaurants to choose from, but with an additional open-air terrace that looks out towards the station. Customers of the restaurants on this floor can bring their orders out and eat on the terrace. While these facilities aren’t as high up as other entries on this list, they offer a beautiful view of one of the most iconic structures in all of Tokyo.
Si Chuan Dou Hua on the 6th floor is a restaurant specializing in Sichuan cuisine. The shop offers tea served by a master who serves you beverages in an acrobatic, cinematic way. The restaurant also has outdoor seating. On the 5th floor, The Innocent Carvery sits on a corner location in the restaurant with curving windows that offer great views of the street below as well as the station.
Marunouchi House offers everything from Hawaiian food to craft beer and a branch of Restaurant Sawamura, a western-style restaurant originally from Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture.
