Fireworks in eastern Tokyo, Edogawa / Ichikawa dazzle crowds every year.
Choose your side. Whether you watch the show from the Edogawa bank or from that of the city of Ichikawa, you will not be disappointed. This hanabi, fireworks in Japanese, impresses with the means it puts into action. More than fourteen thousand rockets are launched every year from one bank or the other of the river. Suffice to say, ninety minutes of happiness for children and adults whose hearts beat to the rhythm of the jets of color.
Every first Saturday of August, the east of Tokyo is "on fire" and recalls its existence to the city center. The Edogawa fireworks claim to compete with the biggest fireworks in the capital, including the famous Sumida Festival, which takes place a week earlier, on the last weekend of July. Plan to arrive early since the site is somewhat out of center and attracts crowds. More than 450 000 people compete for the best vantage points from early afternoon. Be warned.
