Although it's best appreciated for its momiji in autumn, the garden is also home to some pretty plum trees near its central pond. Their blossoms are often among the earliest in the city, making Koshikawa Korakuen a good place to observe the first signs of spring in February.

Flowering here is slightly later than in central Tokyo, making it an excellent option for extending the plum season. We love the contrast between the flowers and the surrounding mountains.
