A single line
With its 45,000 daily passengers, Shin-Okubo station is like a small station on the JR East network. Situated between two giants, shinjuku Station and takadanobaba station it is served only by the Yamanote line.

Shin-Okubo station has just two central platforms flanking the line's two tracks.
- Platform 1 serves trains bound for ikebukuro and Ueno
- Platform 2 serves trains to Shinjuku and Shibuya.
It's one of the few stations on the Yamanote line to offer no connections! To join the Chuo and Chuo-Sobu lines, you'll need to walk about 300 metres to reach Okubo station. On foot, the famous kabukicho red-light district is less than 1 km away.
A single exit
Shin-Okubo station has a single exit.
- On the left, Okubo-dori street leads to the residential Okubo district, home to a large part of Tokyo's Muslim community, mainly from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Between mosques and delicatessens, discover the flavors and traditions of these regions of the world.
- On the right, Shin-Okubo-dori Street gives its name to the district. It leads to Koreatown, Tokyo's temple of Korean culture. With its many Korean restaurants, skincare stores and K-pop stands, it's a delight for visitors.

History of the station
Shin-Okubo station was inaugurated in 1914. Located in the Shinjuku district, it was for a long time a discreet stopover, before gaining notoriety in the 1980s, thanks to its proximity to Tokyo's Korean quarter.
Today, the station is mainly used for this district. The station has been modernized several times to accommodate the growing flow of travellers wishing to discover the city's KoreaTown.
