Fall Leaves in Tokyo
Japan is in love with the changing of the seasons. Just as the blooming of cherry blossoms is celebrated during the hanami season (cherry blossom viewing) in March and April, so are the autumn colors in Japan enjoyed in the fall, usually in mid-to-late November, before the onset of winter in December and the coming of the plum blossoms in February, which signals the arrival of spring.
Though Kyoto may be more synonymous with the gold and burgundy hues of autumn, the modern-day capital boasts some great spots throughout the city to take in the fall-time foliage. Here are some of our favorite locations!

1.Hama-Rikyu Garden
Address: 1-1 Hamarikyuteien, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0046
Hama-rikyu Garden is an Edo Period strolling garden that is beautiful year-round but is especially popular in early spring for the cherry blossoms and in autumn for its maple leaves.
2. Icho Namiki (Ginkgo Avenue)
Address: 2 Kasumigaokamachi, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo
Icho Namiki is an avenue of gingko trees (the municipal flower of Tokyo) that are pruned to look almost like pines. The line of trees is in Meiji Jingu Gaien Park in Aoyama.
3.Imperial Palace
Address: 1-1 Chiyoda, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-8111
The East Gardens of Tokyo's Imperial Palace in the Ninomaru area of the former Edo Castle grounds have both maples and ginkgo trees, which are at their best in mid-November.
4.Shinjuku Gyoen
Address: 11 Naitomachi, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0014
Shinjuku Gyoen is a large urban garden and a good place to enjoy the fall vistas especially Momijiyama and the Shinjuku Gyoen's formal Japanese garden.
5.Showa Kinen Koen
Address: 3173 Midoricho, Tachikawa, Tokyo 190-0014
Showa Kinen Koen in western Tokyo has some of the capital's best fall views with a mix of maple reds and ginkgo yellows.
6.Kiyosumi Gardens
Address: 3 Chome-3-9 Kiyosumi, Koto City, Tokyo 135-0024
Kiyosumi Gardens are worth visiting at any time of year but particularly in the autumn. an example of an ancient daimyo's (feudal lord's) leisurely ground. Kiyosumi Gardens are superbly laid out and an impeccably kept jewel of Japanese landscaping.
7.Yoyogi Park
Address: 2-1 Yoyogikamizonochō, Shibuya, Tokyo 151-0052
Yoyogi Park has numerous Japanese maples and ginkgo trees, most notably in the south of the park.
8.Meiji Jingu Gaien (Shinjuku)
Address: 1-1 Kasumigaokamachi, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0013
Walk along the 300-meter Icho Namiki Avenue leading to the Meiji Memorial and admire the spectacle of 146 ginkgo trees with golden foliage.

9.Mizumoto Park (Katsuhika)
Address: 〒125-0034 Tokyo, Katsushika-ku Mizumotokoen 3-2
Located in Saitama, Mizumoto Park is the largest park in Tokyo Prefecture, covering more than 930 square meters and featuring numerous ponds and trees!
10.Showa Memorial Park (Tachikawa)
Address: 3173 Midoricho,Tachikawa, Tokyo 190-0014
Showa Memorial Park is a vast park in the western part of the capital. Explore the various gardens and paths on foot or by bike. And for a splash of color, don't miss the Cosmos Matsuri, which runs until early November.

11.Mt Mitake (Chichibu)

Mt. Mitake is another popular hiking spot within two hours of downtown Tokyo. Its misty, forested slopes are a well-known spot for glorious autumn shades.
12.Mt Takao (Hachioji)
Address: Takaomachi, Hachioji, Tokyo 193-0844
Mt. Takao (Takaosan) is a popular hiking area west of Tokyo and is known for its cherry blossoms in spring and its richly hued leaves in the fall.
