Autumn in Tokyo's parks 東京の紅葉

Here is our selection of parks to enjoy the fall in Tokyo and its surroundings:

• Mizumoto Park - 水 元 公園

It is a well-hidden park in the northeast of Tokyo in the Katsushika district, on the border with Saitama prefecture. But Mizumoto Park is a real treasure with its 96 hectares and 2,000 trees that transform in autumn and are reflected in the water of the lake. Even on weekends in high season, you will inevitably find room to enjoy the scenery in this huge park.

Access : JR Kanamachi or Keisei Kanamachi station, then Keisei bus

• Inokashira Park - 井 の 頭 恩賜 公園

Many activities await you at Inokashira Park. Between a pedal boat ride, a picnic and a visit to the small zoo located in the park, you will have plenty of time to appreciate the autumnal landscape of red maples and cherry trees with golden leaves . Don't forget to stop by and say hello to Totoro at the Ghibli Museum !

Access : Kichijoji station (JR Chuo or Keio-Inokashira lines)

• The Hama-Rikyu garden - 浜 離宮 恩賜 庭園

Already stunning in any season, one of Tokyo's most beautiful gardens grows in splendor once fall arrives. There are certainly not as many red leaves as in other strategic places of the capital, but you can walk the paths of the garden in peace and enjoy the traditional atmosphere of the Edo garden.

Access : Oedo line, Tsukijishijo station, exit A2 or Shiodome, exit 10

• The park of the Hongô campus of the University of Tokyo - 東京 大学 の 本 郷 地区 キ ャ ン パ ス

He   occupies the site of the former home of a famous Tokyo family, the Maeda. Between the Gothic-style buildings were planted, at the beginning of the century, hundreds of ginkgo biloba which, at the time of kôyo , take on a gold color.

Access : Hongô-Sanchome station (Marumouchi line).

• Hitachi Park in Ibaraki - 国 営 ひ た ち 海 浜 公園

Ceparc, located northeast of Tokyo in Ibaraki Prefecture, is well known for its nemophiles, small blue flowers that bloom in spring. But when fall comes, the groves of nemophiles take on a purplish red tint. An hour and a half by train from Tokyo, this park is an atypical place to celebrate kôyô .

Access : Katsuta station (JR Joban line), then take the bus east exit, Kaihin koennishiguchi stop.
