The famous torii in the water of Miyajima

Hiroshima & Miyajima Full Day Discovery

See the best sights in Hiroshima and Miyajima... all in one day!

The opinion of Japan Experience

Hiroshima is perhaps most famous for being the first city in the world to be destroyed by a nuclear bomb. Although this history is still clearly evident, it's not the only thing that Hiroshima is famous for. The thing that will strike you most about this city is that rather than being a depressing place, it's a place of peace, hope, and love, and the locals are full of enthusiasm for their home, which they will want to share with you at every opportunity.

Miyajima is a must-see for visitors to Hiroshima and is the ‘Island of the Gods,’ where the famous floating torii and Itsukushima Shrine are located. From the moment you step off the ferry you know it’s a sacred and special place and somewhere you can relax while enjoying the peace and quiet of the nature that surrounds you.

Your Travel Angel's plus

Alexis has a particular gift in finding (and helping you discover) places in Hiroshima and Miyajima that few tourists know.

Take a full day combination tour and see the major tourist attractions or let your guide take you to lesser-known places that only the locals know.

Full day tours can include the following Hiroshima and Miyajima experiences:

Walking through the Peace Park, marveling at the Atomic Bomb Dome and visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

If you’re looking for something a little different, or perhaps you’ve already done this on your own, let Alexis take you to a few of the other essential Hiroshima sights: Hiroshima Castle and Shukkei-en Garden. If you really want a unique experience, ask Alexis to show you the places few tourists visit. Whatever you choose, you’ll be in for a treat!

Of course, on Miyajima, Itsukushima Shrine and the iconic floating torii gate are essential viewing as they are considered to be one of the ‘Nihon Sankei,’ or 'Three Scenic Views of Japan'. After that it’s time to spend some time walking through Omotesando, the main shopping street where you can try momiji manju, the maple-leaf shaped cake. Try the deep-fried version for a taste sensation! Finally, enjoy the view of the surrounding area on top of Mt. Misen via the ropeway. Ask Alexis if there’s anything else he recommends, or if you have somewhere you want to go, be sure to tell him!

Alexis will see you safely back to your accommodation and will of course be able to recommend a place for dinner if you’re still hungry after your afternoon of snacking on Miyajima.

Tours can start anywhere in downtown Hiroshima. Your guide will be in touch with you a few days before by email or phone to decide on a convenient meeting place and time, and you are more than welcome to ask about any activities you are interested in.
Tours usually start in the lobby of your hotel or at your accommodation. Alexis will meet you at a mutually decided time before sitting down and talking briefly about what it is you would like to see, what you would like to do and where you would like to go on the tour. You can also ask Alexis to take you somewhere that few tourists know about!

When there are more than 8 participants, extra fees will apply. There are no discounts for children.
